Important Notice for Participants

The Wooback Yass Heritage Working Horse Association Inc advise that all those wishing to participate in the ploughing record and other horse sections for the 2016 Wooback 2 event - the rules of entry are as follows: -

  • All entries are to be made at the office upon arrival to Cooma Cottage. Competitors must read and sign a disclaimer form before being permitted entry to the ring/arena. Membership to the club must be current and paid before entering horse areas to cover insurance unless you have your own.

  • Only Heavy Horses can participate in the ploughing record attempt. This means working heavy horses of all breeds.” ie. Clydesdales, Shires, Percherons, Draught Horses, Belgians, Frisians, Suffolk, Gypsy cobs/Vanner/drums, LARGE Mountain and Moreland breeds (ie Haflinger, Highland, Fiord etc).

  • Any part bred derivative of the above which is of draft type and fit for purpose are welcome, however, cross bred horses that do not exhibit the heaviness expected to be seen in a heavy horse will not be accepted for the record, but will be welcome to attend the event and participate in other sections.

  • It is essential that all horses participating in the record attempt are broken to chains and accustomed to pulling e.g. sleds, ploughs etc prior to the event.  All training should be done prior to the event, not at it.  We encourage all participants to bring a handler/groom, particularly with multiples in harness and also young horses.

  • All horses participating on the day must be sound and fit for the activity.  Veterinarians will be present on the day to monitor all animals and ensure that their welfare is not compromised.

  • Stallions are permitted but must be handled/driven by a competent adult over 21 years.  All Stallions need to be under control at all times, any disruptions to other participants horses we will unfortunately have to relocate stallions to another area on site to be advised by the committee should the need arise.

  • Any horse or participant deemed unsafe or disruptive to other participants/horses may be asked by the Committee to withdraw from the record attempt.  This is a safety issue and is therefore not negotiable.  The ruling by the Committee will be final.

  • All harness and equipment used on the day MUST be well fitting and comfortable for the animal, well maintained and safe for the purpose (ie no broken straps, torn billets, bailing twine or wire on the harness).  All horses must wear blinkers/winkers when in harness (no open bridles).  All attachments onto implements must be quick release, ie hooks on chains.

NO D Shackles.

Prior to entering the field, all participants will be marshalled and a gear safety and animal inspection will be carried out prior to the commencement of hooking the horses up to implements and the record ploughing attempt.   This is to ensure the welfare and safety of all animals and competitors.

Please ensure that you enclose with your entry (or notify us if you have already entered), the following:
